WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF CORONA-VIRUS?

We usually called it 'corona', but officially the disease is called COVID-19. The disease is caused by a new coronavirus (SARS severe acute respiratory syndrome -CoV coronavirus -2). The complaints can resemble a cold. The disease can cause severe pneumonia, which sometimes also kills people.

Common complaints:
·         Common cold symptoms such as colds, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Increase or fever
  • Sudden loss of smell and/or taste (without nasal congestion)
Do you have one or more of these complaints?
Stay home, get tested, and get sick.

If you have a fever and/or tightness, everyone in the household should stay at home. 
When do you call your doctor?
Call the doctor if the symptoms get worse:
  • You have a fever (temperature above 38 degrees Celsius) and you cough or breathe hard
  • You are over 70, have a chronic illness or less resistance AND you get a fever
Important: do not go to the doctor, but call the doctor or GP post. In case of serious complaints, please contact us immediately.

Measures to prevent the spread.

  • Use soap to wash your hands regularly with water.
  • Cough and sneeze in the inside of your elbow.
  • Use tissue paper to blow your nose and then throw it away.
  • Do not shake hands.
  • Keep 1.5 meters (2 arm lengths) from others.
  • Work at home as much as possible. 

Are you ill?

If you have one or more complaints that match an infection with COVID-19, you can be tested. 
·         Mild complaints: Cold complaints, colds, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, cough, increase, or if you suddenly no longer smell or taste properly. Stay home, get tested, and get sick. 
·          Serious complaints: Shortness of breath and/or fever (above 38 degrees) or if you feel increasingly sick. Then immediately call the Govt issued helpline.

Are you 70 years or older or in fragile health?

  • Be extra careful. It may be wise to stay at home as much as possible for the time being.

Avoid crowds and give each other space

  • Make sure you can always stay 1.5 meters away from others.
  • If not possible, go elsewhere.
